The Layout of the Page is Different

Have you done a Google search on a desktop computer within the last week? Did you notice a change in your recent Google search results? The results themselves may look the same, but the layout of the page is different. Text ads—aka AdWords Ads— have been removed from the right-hand side of the page, and now that space is solely reserved for product listing ads (those little pictures and links to stores) and Knowledge Panels. This means that as many as four ads will appear above the organic search results and three text ads will show at the bottom of the page.

No Need to Panic

We’ve always stressed how important it is to try to be one of the top three ads, and this just makes it that much more important. The announcement of the permanent shift seemed sudden to many advertisers, but we’ve seen Google testing a variety of themes like this for a while, so for the hundreds of our lucky customers just like you—nothing has changed. PS… We can’t let an opportunity to hype up mobile responsive sites pass-by, so it’s important to remember that these layout changes only affect desktop computers, so searches done on cell phones, tablets and mobile devices will still look the same. Make sure your site is mobile responsive!
