Ask the Expert With Ratchet+Wrench
CEO and founder of Autoshop Solutions, Danny Sanchez, was recently featured on Ask the Expert with Ratchet+Wrench. In case you missed it, watch it here or skim his 5 steps for success below!
1. Put Goals In Writing
“A goal that’s not written down is just a wish,” or so the adage goes. Danny notes that the first step to making a goal reality is to solidify it by writing it down or telling others. Accountability is critical to achievement!
2. Work On Shop Processes & Systems
Is there room for improvement in how your shop operates? Your processes and systems can be what moves your business forward or what holds it back. Take a critical lens to the way your team works on a daily basis and encourage your team to be part of efforts to improve it.
3. Focus on Customer Service
The pressure to go above and beyond with customer service has grown in the last year, no doubt. Danny suggests that shops take a look at technologies that could improve their customer service for a society that prioritizes convenience.
4. Pick a Metric to Measure & Improve
When it comes to cars, some people only care about acceleration from zero to sixty. Others measure performance by lap times that include cornering. The point is, there’s plenty of ways to measure performance or success. Danny suggests that automotive business owners start by picking one metric, like ARO, and hone in on it with laser focus to optimize it.
5. Don’t Forget About Family & Friends
There’s no denying the stress that we’ve all been through in the past year. Getting back to “normal” looks different for everyone, and Danny encourages all automotive business owners to carve out time for family and friends as part of their “routine maintenance,” so to speak.
